What is the visitation policy for the Corps Dorms?
According THE STANDARD:
1. This policy is in effect from the first day of FOW to the last day of final exams. All cadets residing in or visiting in a cadet dormitory are responsible for knowing the visitation rules and regulations and hours of visitation that apply to that dormitory. The cadet is responsible for his/her guest's conduct.
2. Non-Corps guests of cadets are not permitted in the Corps dorms, including doorways and hallways, other than during visitation hours.
3. Cadets must observe the following visitation restrictions: A guest is a visitor of either gender, not in the Corps, unless on Corps business. Moving in or out and group study sessions may be considered Corps business. (Note: A non-Corps guest of the same gender is still considered a guest and visitation policies fully apply.) Corps dorm visitation hours are:
- Weekdays - NONE
- Fridays - 5:00pm (Friday)-2:00am (Saturday)
- Saturdays - 10:00am (Saturday)-2:00am (Sunday)
- Sundays - 10:00am-6:00pm
- Redefined Days, Dead Days, and Finals - 1000-0200 (FOLLOWING DAY)
4. The civilian co-ed residence halls have visitation hours determined by vote of the residents. The single sex halls are only open for visitors from 0900 – 0200. Cadets will not violate the visitation hours of any residence hall. During visitation hours, all cadets and their guests, who are in the hallways, must be dressed as if they are in public areas.
5. Commanders will report any visitation violations of non-corps individuals to the Commandant’s Duty Officer through the Guard Room (845-6789) or the appropriate CTO.
Can we disassemble one of the beds so we can have more space?
Corps Housing's policy on standard room configuration includes proper assembly of all assigned lofts.
Cadets should refer to the Cadet Resident Handbook to review information specific to lofts.
How do I apply for a housing deposit waiver?
Applications for housing deposit waiver may be acquired from the Department of Residence Life. Eligibility for a housing deposit waiver is determined by the Department of Student Financial Aid in late April using information received from your FAFSA. Waivers will not be processed if a FAFSA is not on file. If your request for a housing deposit waiver is denied, you will be notified by the Housing Assignments Office in the Department of Residence Life and a request for the $300.00 deposit will be made at that time.
If you are submitting a housing deposit waiver, you do not need to submit the $300.00 housing deposit. If your waiver is denied, you will be notified by the Department of Residence Life. You must submit the $25.00 application processing fee (applications submitted without the $25.00 processing fee will be returned unprocessed).
When do I get billed for housing?
For fall 2008 and spring 2009, the cost for a room in the Corps dormitories is $1541 per semester. For returning cadets, this amount is usually billed to your student statement early in the summer. For new cadets, this amount may not show up on your student statement until late July or early August.
What do I do if I lose my key?
If you lose your room key, please come to Corps Housing to complete a Lost Key Report form during normal business hours (8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday).
Cadets should refer to the Cadet Resident Handbook to review information specific to lost keys.
We strongly recommend you ask your cadet to provide you the following information:

How are rooms assigned for the freshmen?
Outfit Commanders have supervised authority over many aspects of unit operation, including room assignments. Each Spring the incoming outfit Commander approves room assignments for the following Fall for all outfit upperclass students. The incoming outfit Commander also designates blocks of rooms to be used for incoming fish. As these incoming freshmen cadets attend their New Student Conferences, Corps Housing makes tentative assignments of specific freshmen to specific rooms. When Commanders return just before school starts in the Fall, they finalize all freshmen room assignments. Because of this, Corps freshmen room assignments are not known until just before Freshmen Orientation Week (FOW), and freshmen are not able to request specific roommates.

Depending on the type of repair needing to be done will dictate the procedure you will follow to request the repairs. Self-help items such as replacing an air-filter can be done by simply contacting your Commander or Corps Housing (during normal business hours). There are instances where the repair will require you to submit the request online.
Click here for detailed information regarding repair requests. Cadets should also refer to the Cadet Resident Handbook.
What do I do if I need to change rooms?
Cadets who have been approved by their Commander to change rooms are required to complete a room change request form (available at Corps Housing) and room inventory card before moving any belongings into the new room. The inventory card must be completed with the cadet's Commander present.

What is the policy on Quad access?
The Quad is specifically designed to be a pedestrian area. With the exception of vehicles belonging to the University and those of authorized contractors/vendors, all vehicles must have a permit from Corps Housing for Quad access. Permits are issued at the discretion of Corps Housing and include an expiration date/time.

The opportunity to request a private room is reserved for junior and senior cadets only. The opportunity to have a private room is based on availability of unoccupied rooms in the resident dorm of your outfit. A cadet who chooses to live by himself/herself will be charged room rental at 1.5 times the original rate per semester of private housing. The current cost for housing is $1541 per semester. A cadet choosing private housing will be charged an additional $770 per semester ($2311 total). Corps Housing reserves the right to deny any individual private room status due to lack of space availability.
What do I need to do about housing if I am leaving the Corps?
A cadet leaving the Corps of Cadets during the academic year should first contact Lounge B or their Cadet Training Officer for the required paperwork, which requires signatures from a multitude of offices including Corps Housing.
As it relates to housing, if you are leaving during the academic year, the Corps Housing Office will advise you to maintain on-campus housing in order to complete your on-campus housing agreement. Living on campus will prevent you from forfeiting your $300 housing deposit. If you decide to not live on campus, your deposit is automatically forfeited.
A cadet leaving the Corps must vacate their room and the dorm within three (3) business days after initiating the required paperwork. After three (3) business days, the cadet may be assessed a fee for failure to clear.
The cadet must also surrender his/her room key upon move-out. Failure to return the key will result in a lock-change fee.
Cadets should refer to their housing contract and the Cadet Resident Handbook for more information.
What is the policy on microwaves and refrigerators?
When allowedy by the privilege system, cadets may have a microwave and/or refrigerator in their dorm room. Without exception, the maximum allowed combination in a Corps dormitory room is one microwave and one refrigerator. Additional units (plugged or unplugged) must be removed from the dormitory.
Click here to review details about use of appliances in the Corps dorms including details regarding microwaves and refrigerators. Cadets should also refer to the Cadet Resident Handbook.
What is the policy for using dorms for conferences?
The Corps dormitories are regulated directly by the Office of the Commandant. A specific policy is in place to regulate dorm usage for conferences.

What does a typical freshman room look like?
All freshmen are assigned to rooms in the middle of the hallway. Each room measures approximately 14' x 12'.
The room has two closets, cental cooling/heating and a sink (see diagram below--not to scale).
All rooms in the Corps dormitories are fitted with two desks, two dressers, two chairs and two lofts (the mattresses on these lofts have an average measurement of 78 or 79 inches in length, 36 or 39 inches in width, and are about 6 or 8 inches thick).

What should my incoming freshman bring on the day of FOW?
The Corps of Cadets places restrictions on items that an incoming freshman can bring. The packing list for both male and female incoming cadets are below (PDF format). In addition to the items on the packing list, your cadet may be required to purchase additional items based on information from their unit leadership.
Footlockers are highly recommended for all cadets. The footlocker should be sturdy and securable (cadets will be responsible for providing a combination and/or key lock), and, because of limited space in the dorm rooms, of reasonable size. A standard footlocker measures approximately 16" x 16" x 30" in size. Footlockers can be purchased from Wal-Mart, Target, Academy or at an Army/Navy surplus store.
