Incoming Aggie Band freshmen should plan to arrive no earlier than 8:00am (no later than 12:00pm) on Wednesday, August 13, 2008.

Applying for Housing with the Corps
Although housing with the Corps is guaranteed, all students joining the Corps must complete a housing application available online through the Department of Residence Life at http://reslife.tamu.edu/how/apply/.
You will need to use your NetID and password to log onto the online application process. Make sure you indicate on the application that you are joining the Corps of Cadets. Failure to make this indication will result in your housing application being routed to the Department of Residence Life Housing Assignments Office at which point the application will automatically be rejected due to lack of available space.
In addition to completing the application, you will be required to pay the $25.00 housing application processing fee as well as submit the $300.00 housing deposit. You may pay the application processing fee and deposit on-line. If you choose to mail the application processing fee and housing deposit, you must do so within two weeks after you submit the on-line application.
After your application, application processing fee, and housing deposit is received, a housing contract will be mailed to you. This contract is required of all cadets residing on campus. Please read the contract carefully, sign it and then mail it back to Corps Housing no later than August 1.
NOTE: Please read the contract carefully before signing! Once the contract is signed, your deposit becomes partially nonrefundable until the contract is fulfilled (by you residing in University housing until the end of the school year). By your signature on the contract, you agree that you will reside in University housing for the entire academic year. Even if you resign from the Corps but remain at Texas A&M, you are still contractually bound to complete the academic year in university housing (you can transfer to a non-Corps residence hall, if available, without penalty). There are financial consequences for breaking the housing contract.
The room rate for Academic Year 08-09 is $1541 per semester.
Outfit Commanders have supervised authority over many aspects of unit operation, including room assignments. Each Spring the incoming outfit Commander approves room assignments for the following Fall for all outfit upperclass students. The incoming outfit Commander also designates blocks of rooms to be used for incoming fish. As these incoming freshmen cadets attend their New Student Conferences, Corps Housing makes tentative assignments of specific freshmen to specific rooms. When Commanders return just before school starts in the Fall, they finalize all freshmen room assignments. Because of this, Corps freshmen room assignments are not known until just before Freshmen Orientation Week (FOW), and freshmen are not able to request specific roommates.
Corps Recruiting can be contacted at (800) 826-8247. General information can also be viewed at http://www.aggiecorps.org.
The Scholarships Office for the Corps of Cadets can be reached at (888) 244-4546.
What furniture items can freshmen bring for their rooms?
The university provides the following furniture for dorm rooms: two beds, two dressers, two desks and chairs. Cadets are required to furnish an alarm clock, a telephone, and answering machine. Cadets live two to a room and share a phone and answering machine. Computers are recommended, but not required.
What kind of long-distance services are available for cadets?
Cadets desiring long distance service are advised to do so through the purchase of pre-paid calling cards or through the carrier designated as your family's home long distance service provider. Many cadets utilize cell phones for long distance.
Cadets desiring to use a pre-paid calling card will need to have access to a telephone that allows for off-campus access. Beginning with the fall semester of 2008, telephone service will no longer be automatically provided in the residence halls and Corps dorms. Cadets desiring a phone line in their room will need to subscribe for such service by visiting http://reslife.tamu.edu/housing/amenities/phone/defaultNEW.asp.
Can freshman cadets have cars on campus?
Yes. Freshmen cadets should visit the Transportation Services web site at http://transport.tamu.edu for more information regarding on-campus parking.
